Hello, I'm Mal.
I have always been fascinated with labor & birth but it wasn't until my own pregnancy & my experience with my midwives that made this path very clear. I have a passion for advocating for women & their families through pregnancy, labor & birth. I would love to hear from you, if you think we'd make a great match. I would be honored to be apart of your story and that magical moment you become a mama.
A little about myself - I'm a Portland transplant, labor doula, mama, wife, maker & milk-machine. I have a soft spot for babies, children & helping others. Growing up I babysat, volunteered to teach gymnastics to little ones & naturally found myself involved with children. I have my bachelor's degree in psychology/human services from DePaul University, Chicago. There I held an internship at Illinois Masonic Hospital working with children newly diagnosed with Autism for a year. After I graduated I worked as a substitute teacher in special education, mainly self contained autism rooms. Right after the holidays my husband & I packed everything we owned into a tiny trailer & made our cross country move. On January 1st 2012 my husband & I arrived in the beautiful PNW to start the next chapter in our lives here in Portland & I am so glad we did. I quickly was welcomed into a family as their nanny & we found out we were expecting our sweet babe at the end of 2012, we would be a family of three by summer! I love spending my free time with my family & friends, playing outdoors, reading a good book, & of course talking all things birth & babies! I completed Birthingway Midwifery College's Labor Doula workshop, I am on the Portland Doula Association Planning Committee as well as Oregon Doula Association Education & Resource Committee.
